DO NOT EVEN INQUIRE FOR A QUOTE WITH THIS COMPANY!
DO NOT USE!
I sold my car to an individual that lives in FL and he chose this company to pick up the car in central Texas. Car was picked up on Friday and the driver was extremely rude. Today, Tuesday, the new owner contacted me as he hasn't received the car yet. I checked the locations on my Ford Pass app and the car is in Mexico and this company doesn't care and has offered no assistance!
I don't know why people are complaining about this company. In 2017, I had them ship a 1995 Camaro Convertible from Chesapeake Virginia to Sacramento California. I worked with a guy, Nick Armstrong, a very pleasant, polite, and courteous person. My uncle needed a car as soon as possible because his car at that time, a 1998 Honda Accord broke down. Nick did the legwork for me in finding a trucker that can deliver the car to my uncle. Within a day or two, he found a transporter and my uncle received the car in less than 3 weeks. The person who picked up the car was also pleasant; as a matter of fact, we talked for about half an hour after he loaded the car to his truck. My uncle received the camaro in California without any scratches. As of today, 2020-04-23, Nick is working on getting the camaro shipped back to me from Sacramento California to Chesapeake Virginia. My uncle is moving to Virginia to live with me. If you want an honest company and person to work with, use this company, contact Nick Armstrong at 678-224-8820.
I had my 2010 Toyota Tundra moved from Phoenix AZ to Burnsville MN with ATT. The truck was wrecked by their driver (damaged my roof going under a shop doorway) that was over 1 month ago and my truck is still not repaired. When I called Tony Perez my booking agent I was never called back. I kept calling until I reached who I think was a dispatcher. Was told call our insurance and that was about it. I tried many times to tell her I had not received my truck it was taken by the driver to a body shop in northern MN. Long story short - ATT double brokered my truck in other wards they gave the job to one of their carriers who in turn gave it to another carrier. ATT was zero help trying to sort out all of the insurance calls and documentation. 1 month later here I am trying to get my truck repaired and the insurance company I finally reached has been stalling to make or approve repairs. I would never hire or recommend American Auto Transport to anyone EVER! I am going to every review site I can find to hopefully make sure that people understand what their business practice is. They had no problem taking their 350.00 fee (paid upfront) but when it came to assisting their customer or accepting accountability for their drivers they were a huge no show. Be warned if anything happens to your vehicle when in the possession of ATT or one of their carriers you are on your own. I have spoken to many folks in the auto world and this is not the case with the majority of automobile haulers out there. Be careful and do your home work otherwise your results can be frustrating and expensive!
In deciding to transport my 1991 Dodge Stealth from Colorado to Ohio I have been getting a deluge of emails from American Auto Transport sales staff. Paul, Chris, Angela, Victor, Keith, Jennifer, Matt & Sebastian all have sent me multiple emails each. I have shipped 5 cars cross country in the past 10 years, so I am not a complete neophyte as far as transporting vehicles (not an expert admittedly either). In my initial contact I was requesting a quote from Snowmass Village, Colorado, 81615 to Brunswick, Ohio, 44212. The first quote returned was from Sebastian for $9 for transport from Snowmass Village, Colorado, 81615 to Brunswick, Ohio, 44212. Yes $9, obviously a mistake. He sent a follow up email with a corrected quote for $675. That was followed up with emails from Matt and Victor with no location or prices mentioned. Later that day Sebastian sent a third email with the same $675 price but changed the pickup location to Denver for some reason. I have overall received over 25 emails from American Auto Transport. In talking to other dispatchers I have come to understand that Snowmass Village is out of the way with narrow roads transport drivers avoid so I changed the pickup location to Glenwood Springs, Colorado, 81601 to save costs and emailed the information to multiple email addresses at American Auto Transport. In return I received a quote from Chris with my re-route request reprinted at the bottom where he said: “I CAN WORK WITH YOU AT THE RATE OF $700 FOR YOU REQUIRED TIME FRAME, WITH THE INFO YOU SENT ME I CAN SET UP YOUR FREE RESERVATION, CALL ME TO DISCUSS FURTHER DETAILS ON HOW TO E-SIGN THE CONTRACT.” Since I have been talking to other dispatch companies and a driver who has access to Central Dispatch I have come to understand that I70 is not an overly popular route and the few cars that are on Central Dispatch are not moving. In trying to get some semblance of order from the communications from American Auto Transport I called the toll free number and got Paul. When I asked for a supervisor or manager Paul said he was not available and asked me what I wanted. I explained how because of the light traffic on I70 that had been communicated to me by other dispatchers and a driver, I wanted to deal with a transporter who owned their own trucks so I would not be subject to the fickle Central Dispatch. He assured me American Auto Transport was a carrier even though I did not see that they were listed as so on Transport Reviews. He quoted me a price of $850. After I told him I was talking to other transporters (I hadn’t looked at my past emails yet so I did not realize that American Auto Transporter had quoted me a much lower price) and was looking to hit the $700 mark. He said he would check the schedule to see if any more discount could be applied. I returned to my computer and went through all the emails from American Auto Transport and discovered the huge discrepancy in price. I called back to the direct number for Chris to see if the information I got from Chris would be any different from what Paul told me. As soon as I identified myself and he pulled up my records he said “I will transfer you to the dispatcher in that area.” And transferred me before I could even ask him anything. I was transferred to Paul who I told that I had the impression that my file had been tagged from my last conversation with him to be transferred directly to him. He answered saying, no that it was SOP to transfer the caller to the dispatcher, though to be honest it seems strange that every inquiry coming in would be immediately transferred to the dispatcher before any order had been placed. If this were SOP why have commissioned sales people at all when a receptionist could easily route the calls to the dispatcher. I informed Paul of the lower price I had been quoted. He insisted that ALL quotes were for a Denver pickup and that after our first call he had changed it in the computer. I asked him if American Auto Transport would honor the price quoted by Chris on the 21st. Paul emphatically said no since the quote was from Denver. I said the email was quite clear and it was from Glenwood Springs but he insisted there was no way that could be so. I told him it was pretty cut and dry but he refused to accept it even after I told him I would forward him the email. I did forwarded him 3 emails, the $700 from Glenwood Springs from Chris as well as the $675 quote for Snowmass Village (and the $9 one) from Sebastian. At this point as a customer, it honestly looks like a lowball price is SOP to get people to call in to be talked into a higher price. Not what the reviews I read on Transport Reviews led me to expect from American Auto Transport. About 7 hours later Paul called me back and even after receiving the emails American Auto Transport refused to honor the quoted price. I asked him if he felt obligated to honor the commitment made by American Auto Transport. He replied that the agents had only been working for American Auto Transport for 7 years and he had talked to them but would not budge from his $850 price and I would not be able to move my vehicle for less. When I mentioned that I would leave reviews about the bait and switch and he realized he was not going to get my business his attitude changed and said the would continue to ship lots of vehicles regardless. Overall this has been a very unprofessional company. At the time of this writing. I have yet to select a transport company.
He told me he was a shipper and not a broker. After 5 days of dealing with him and promised pickup and delivery was perfect.. Said the driver would be contacting me soon. For 5 days I called asking when the driver was going to call. Soon he would say every time. Then on the 5 the day when the driver was to call another man who said he worked with victor in the same office told me they were brokers. he told me they could not deliver it to my house but would be dropping it 50 miles away. My car is a 1953 Ford one you would not want to drive on salty roads. Called victor who was going to fix it and call me right back. Week went by and still no call from victor. shipped it with another shipper. Not a broker.
I wanted to ship a car from California to the East Coast. I went online to a website that provides estimates from several trucking companies. Most of the companies called once and/or sent e-mail. American Auto Transport called many times, and the calls were annoying automated ones. The company also sent multiple e-mails. I chose another trucking company, but I'm still getting several automated calls each day from American Auto Transport.
This company will tell you they own and operate their own trucks. They don't. They will tell you they are located in Davie, FL. They aren't. Reserch the address they give you and see for yourself. It's a P.O. box in a government building. There is no business. There are no trucks. The truth is they are based in South America. Colombia to be specific. They have no intention of honoring anything they say. Be very careful giving out your credit card info. Also, the reviews on BBB and on transportreviews.com are fake. If you want real reviews, check out their Yelp and Facebook pages before it's too late.
I would not recommend this company if it was the only one available. My car was rescheduled 3 times. It showed up over a week late. David was very rude and argumentive when I called to find out where my car was. I was directed to deal with the transport truck they hired. I understand that problems arise but 3 times with one transport? They were very disrespectful and could care less if I was happy or not. He got his part of the money up front so had no motivation to care. Obviously he doesn't care about his reputation. What a dirtbag. Please find another broker. I send a car back and forth a couple times a year and unfortunately I came across this company. He was so nice when he wanted my business but after that when there was a problem he could have cared less. DONT USE THIS COMPANY, they are unscrupulous. Very unprofessional and rude. Call someone else if you want to be treated with any respect. He's cost me so much money not getting my car as promised. He can rot for all I care. This is being polite compared to the way I was treated.
I called Alex, who promptly called me back and gave me a great quote (both in terms of time to deliver and price). He promised me that it would be picked up and delivered on specific dates. I point blank asked him if he was a broker and he told me "no"--that was a lie and I should have realized this but this was the first time using such a service.
Alex called and texted for about one day. Luckily, we hadn't paid him before he just disappeared. On the day it was supposed to be picked up, he never called or followed up. It was just not picked up. When I tried to reach him, he never returned my calls. I tried customer service, but they never called me either.
I believe the company is a scam (and some of the positive reviews look suspicious). They cost us a few weeks of delivery delay since we had to start over with another company.
Whatever you do--do not use this company. They will NOT actually pick up your vehicle. They are a scam.
I did not ship my vehicle through thus company. When I was speaking with someone through text message. I told them I was not interested in their comoant because u felt I coukd fund a better proce. The reply was very rude, called me cheap, and they actually argued with me! Incredibly unprofessional. They completely lost trust and credibility with me. I wouldn't ship my bike with them.
